Marking aside, the Data Protection Day took place yesterday, 28th January: the ICO launched the Personal Information Promise:
On 28 January 2009 the Information Commissioner’s Office celebrated European Data Protection Day by launching the Personal Information Promise, which was signed by major stakeholders at One Great George Street, Westminster, London.

I fear, like so much other well intentioned stuff, this is a pointless PR exercise.
The UKIC can't enforce the LAW. What will he do about the rather banal promise?
